Therapy for Teens, Adults, Couples & Families · New York

Emilia Shapiro, LCSW, is a compassionate and dedicated therapist who helps individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges with understanding, empathy, and evidence-based strategies. With dual master's degrees—one in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and another in Clinical Social Work from Hunter College's Silberman School of Social Work—Emilia brings a rich academic foundation to her practice.

Her studies included a specialized focus on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which gave her unique expertise in understanding and treating this condition. Emilia works with adolescents, young adults, and adults, addressing a range of mental health issues, including OCD, anxiety, borderline personality disorder (BPD), and relationship challenges. She also offers couples counseling, creating a safe and supportive space for partners to strengthen their connection and improve communication.

Known for her warm and collaborative approach, Emilia tailors her therapeutic methods to meet the unique needs of each client. Whether working to reduce anxiety, navigate relationship dynamics, or navigate life's complexities, she strives to empower her clients to achieve lasting change and personal growth.

In her work, Emilia integrates proven therapeutic modalities with a genuine commitment to understanding each client's story. She helps patients foster a strong commitment to themselves that prioritizes their personal growth and goals. Emilia prioritizes access to affordable care and accepts many insurance plans. Having personally experienced the struggle of not having access to affordable care, Emilia now works diligently to offer both insurance and out-of-network options.

Emilia resides in New York City, where she was born and raised. In her spare time, Emilia enjoys exploring new perspectives through reading, cooking, exercise, travel, trying new restaurants, enjoying the city's rich cultural landscape, and connecting with the community around her.
